Frequently Asked Questions

Are teachers from charter schools eligible to apply?
Yes, as long as it is a public charter. To be awarded the fellowship, applicants must teach in a public school in New Jersey.

Can more than one teacher from the same school apply (and possibly be accepted)?

Yes! We welcome applications from teams/pairs; each applicant, however, must submit their own application and we cannot guarantee admission to all applicants who apply from the same school.

Am I required to attend the entire summer institute?
Yes, attendance is required. Attending the full summer institute is necessary to be able to participate fully in subsequent fellowship  activities throughout the school year.

Am I required to attend all 8 follow-up sessions?
Yes, attendance is required. We will work, however, to accommodate teachers’ schedules to take into account busy work weeks and school functions.

Are there plans to expand to other STEM grades and subjects?

Yes, it is our hope to expand the fellowship offerings in subsequent years.

Can I apply if I do not teach K - 5 mathematics?
No, this year's fellowship focuses on an innovation that is applicable to K - 5 math. We hope to expand the fellowship to additional grades and subjects in the coming years.

What if I am a coach that has responsibility for a variety of grades, including some in K - 5?
If you teach K-5 mathematics in addition to other grades, you are eligible to apply.
